LJUBLJANA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The Slovenian government on Friday decided to extend fuel price controls for gasoline sold outside highway service stations for another six months, keeping the measure in place until Dec. 15.
The regulation, first introduced in 2022 to curb excessive fuel price increases, was due to expire later this month. The government said the extension is aimed at ensuring price predictability for consumers and maintaining a stable supply of petroleum products.
Under the revised decree, regulated fuel prices will continue to be adjusted weekly according to a government-established formula that reflects movements in global oil markets.
Fuel prices at stations outside highways are currently around 10 percent lower than those at highway service areas, where retailers are free to set prices.
The government said the measure would help shield consumers from sharp market fluctuations while preserving stability in the domestic fuel market. ■
