ANKARA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday accused Israel of threatening "peace and tranquility" in the region.
"The genocide against the Palestinians continues systematically," said Erdogan while addressing his party members at the parliament in Ankara, adding, "Israel has simultaneously attacked Iran and, not content with that, attempted to invade Lebanon."
He said that Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria "have brought the issue to a point where it also threatens Türkiye," adding that his country will not "turn a blind eye to attacks."
The United States and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran in late February. Despite a ceasefire reached in early April, Israel continues its military operations in Lebanon, targeting Iran's ally, Hezbollah.
Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said the cumulative toll from Israeli attacks between March 2 and June 9 had reached 3,666 dead and 11,321 injured. ■
