ANKARA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police and coast guard officers confiscated 764 kg of skunk, a highly potent form of cannabis, in an operation at a port in the country's southwest, authorities said Wednesday.
The Interior Ministry said on X that the operation was conducted at Izmir port, without specifying the exact timing, and 3 suspects were apprehended.
The 764 kg of skunk was shipped by and hidden in a boat from Greece to Izmir, it added.
Türkiye's strategic position as a bridge between Europe and Asia has made its ports and borders key transit hubs for drug trafficking, prompting frequent governmental operations to crack down on the illegal trade. ■
