DHAKA, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh and Turkey have agreed to establish a ministerial-level joint committee as part of efforts to deepen bilateral political and defense ties.
The decision was announced following a meeting between Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Dhaka on Saturday.
The Bangladeshi Prime Minister's Office said that discussions with Turkey focused on expanding cooperation through structured ministerial engagement, with both sides agreeing to hold annual foreign minister-level meetings to further strengthen strategic ties.
"Bangladesh and Turkey decided to form a joint committee at the level of defense and foreign ministers to strengthen political and defense cooperation between the two countries," the PMO said.
Fidan arrived in Dhaka on Thursday for a three-day visit. ■
