BERLIN, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The German government on Wednesday unveiled detailed technology roadmaps to accelerate the implementation of its "High-Tech Agenda Germany," a national strategy to strengthen the country's technological competitiveness.

Although the overall agenda was adopted by the federal cabinet in July 2025, the newly released roadmaps set out the specific goals and development paths for six priority sectors: artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technologies, microelectronics, biotechnology, fusion and climate-neutral energy generation, as well as technologies for climate-neutral mobility.

In addition to these areas, Germany will also carry out projects in major strategic research fields such as aerospace and security.

The roadmaps include measures designed to improve the transfer of research outcomes into commercial applications, including support for start-ups and efforts to reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

The strategy sets some ambitious targets. In quantum technology, Germany aims to develop at least two error-corrected quantum computers by 2030. In biotechnology, the country hopes to secure approval for its first individually tailored mRNA cancer immunotherapy by 2028.

According to the roadmaps, Germany also targets having AI-related activities account for 10 percent of its economic output by 2030.
