LISBON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A Portuguese army soldier died on Thursday after sustaining injuries in a parachuting accident during a training course, the army said in a statement.
Corporal Ismael Jose Silva Lamela, 23, had been hospitalized at Sao Jose Hospital in Lisbon after the accident, which occurred on Tuesday at the Parachutist Course training ground in Tancos.
A second soldier injured in the same incident remains hospitalized in Leiria, in the Central Region of Portugal.
An investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances of the accident. ■
