BERLIN, May 3 (Xinhua) -- German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Sunday called for a "negotiated solution" to the ongoing tension regarding Iran.
Wadephul made the remarks on social media platform X following a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Germany supports a negotiated solution, Wadephul said, adding that in the phone conversation, he demanded that Iran renounce nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
As a close U.S. ally, Germany shares the same strategic objectives as the United States, he said in the post. ■
