TBILISI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday unveiled a cabinet reshuffle during a briefing at the government administration, outlining changes aimed at strengthening government efficiency and coordination.
Kobakhidze said the current State Security Service head Mamuka Mdinaradze will serve as state minister for coordination of law enforcement agencies and deputy prime minister.
He noted that Mdinaradze had previously stepped down from political activity upon taking the security post. "In his new role, he will return to politics, which will further strengthen our political team," Kobakhidze said.
Interior Minister Geka Geladze will succeed Mdinaradze as head of the State Security Service, while Sulkhan Tamazashvili, who served as chairman of the Adjara regional government, will take over as interior minister. Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili will also be elevated to deputy prime minister.
The prime minister added that the creation of the new state minister post requires legislative amendments. The government will submit the relevant bill to parliament shortly and expects its expedited adoption. ■
