MADRID, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Spain's capital city Madrid hosted the event "Macao Night" on Tuesday, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), bringing together institutional representatives, industry professionals and local residents to showcase the Special Administrative Region (SAR)'s cultural offerings.

The event formed part of the Macao roadshow in Madrid titled "Experience Macao," held from Friday to Tuesday at Puente del Rey square along the Manzanares River.

Jointly organized by the Macao SAR Government and the Chinese Embassy in Spain, the roadshow featured four themed areas and 20 stands, along with interactive experiences focused on culture and gastronomy, aiming to present Macao's cultural richness and tourism resources to the public.

During the event, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes expressed hope that the initiative would showcase Macao's latest developments, create platforms for direct exchanges between industries and communities on both sides, while laying the groundwork for broader and deeper cooperation in the next phase.

Chinese Ambassador to Spain Yao Jing highlighted the potential for cooperation in the cultural and tourism sectors, encouraging the Spanish public to visit the city and experience its blend of historical heritage and modern vitality.

Luis Fernando Martin Izquierdo, deputy minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid, said Macao is "open, welcoming and diverse," where different cultures and traditions coexist, and emphasized its role as a meeting point.

Borja Fanjul, president of the Madrid City Council Plenary, said the roadshow represented "an extraordinary opportunity" to strengthen ties, particularly in tourism, and to raise awareness of Macao among the local people.
