TBILISI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Georgia faces a low risk of terrorist attacks, with international extremist groups showing limited interest in the country due to its geographic location, the Georgian Public Broadcaster reported Tuesday.

The broadcaster was citing the latest annual report of the State Security Service (SSSG), Georgia's state agency responsible for national security, anti-terrorism, counterintelligence affairs.

International terrorist groups currently view the country mainly as a transit hub rather than a target, the report said, warning that this dynamic could shift depending on their priorities.

The agency monitored Georgian citizens and their relatives linked to overseas terrorist networks, tracking possible returns to the country. Two citizens convicted on terrorism-related charges were added to Georgia's national sanctions list in 2025.

The agency said Georgia continues to strengthen counterterrorism collaboration with international partners including the United Nations (UN), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Interpol and Europol.
