PARIS, April 19 (Xinhua) -- French shipping company CMA CGM confirmed on Sunday that one of its vessels was subjected to "warning shots" in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, adding that the crew was safe, according to local media reports.

The group's cargo ship Everglade was damaged in the incident, Le Monde reported, citing a source from the International Maritime Organization.

On Friday, both Washington and Tehran confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz had been completely open for all commercial vessels. However, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that the U.S. naval blockade would "remain in full force." In response, Iran warned of closing the strategic waterway again if the U.S. blockade continues.

Iran's Supreme National Security Council said on Saturday that the country is determined to control traffic through the strait until the war is definitively ended and lasting peace is achieved in the region.
