MADRID, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Ambassador to Iran Antonio Sanchez-Benedito Gaspar said Monday the Spanish embassy in Tehran has reopened in a move aimed at supporting regional peace efforts.
The ambassador said in a post on social media platform X that he had returned to the Iranian capital together with his "committed team" in order to "join in efforts for peace from every possible quarter," following instructions from Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.
Spain had temporarily scaled down its diplomatic presence in Iran earlier amid heightened regional tensions. The embassy reopening comes as Madrid seeks to support de-escalation and diplomatic efforts in the Middle East. ■
