TBILISI, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Georgia's economic growth will decelerate to 5.5 percent in 2026 from 7.5 percent the previous year, driven by a softening services sector and weakening external demand, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Friday.
The forecast, published in the April 2026 edition of the Asian Development Outlook, projects a further moderation to 5.2 percent in 2027. The Manila-based lender warned that heightened geopolitical risks, including the Middle East conflict, could weigh on economic activity.
Services, the economy's main engine, are projected to expand 7.5 percent in 2026 and 6.8 percent in 2027, cooling from 10.8 percent last year. Industry is expected to pick up to 2.4 percent in 2026 from 1.4 percent, backed by construction and manufacturing gains, before slipping to 2.0 percent in 2027. Agriculture, which contracted 6.1 percent in 2025, is expected to stabilize in 2026 and return to 1.7 percent growth in 2027. ■
