PARIS, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The French presidency confirmed on Tuesday that France has not changed its policy regarding U.S. military aircraft flying over its territory, expressing surprise at recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to local media.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that "France wouldn't let planes headed to Israel, loaded with military supplies, fly over French territory," describing the country as "very unhelpful" and warning that the United States would "remember."

Responding to these comments, the Elysee Palace reaffirmed that France's position remains unchanged. "We confirm this decision, which is consistent with France's stance since the beginning of the conflict," it said, as reported by French daily Le Parisien.

According to the report, France has maintained the same policy since the outset of the conflict. U.S. aircraft not involved in operations in Iran have been permitted to use certain French military bases, the French military noted on March 5. However, France requires that such aircraft be used strictly to support the defense of regional partners and not participate in U.S. operations in Iran.

France has opposed the military operations launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, describing them as "outside international law" and stating that they cannot be endorsed by France.
