MOSCOW, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Russia will continue to advance research on nuclear rocket engines to support deep space exploration, the head of Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos said Wednesday.
The application of nuclear rocket engines is expected to significantly shorten flight time to distant planets, laying a critical foundation for deep space exploration, Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov said.
Bakanov added that Russia is working with China on the construction of an international lunar research station.
Russia is planning to send one crewed spacecraft and three cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station later this year, he said. ■
