MOSCOW, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Russia called on all parties involved in the conflict in the Persian Gulf region to refrain from striking civilian targets, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Monday.
Russia is deeply concerned about the continuing armed confrontation in the region and the growing number of attacks targeting administrative and civilian infrastructure, Zakharova said in a statement published by the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Russia strongly condemns the attack designed to expand the geographic scope of the ongoing military and political crisis, which was triggered by the United States and Israel, she said.
Russia is firmly in favor of the swift cessation of hostilities and a return to a political and diplomatic settlement, urging all sides to avoid strikes on non-military targets, Zakharova said. ■
