BERLIN, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A mother and her child were killed on Wednesday morning in Schramberg, in the southern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, after they were struck by a truck, local police said.
Police further said the accident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. local time (0800 GMT). The truck driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, apparently due to a medical emergency. The truck then crashed into several parked cars, mounted the sidewalk, and slammed into the wall of a house.
The young mother and her child were struck on the sidewalk. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, both died at the scene from their severe injuries.
Further investigations are underway. ■
