MOSCOW, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition highlighting the achievements of women's development in China opened in Moscow on Friday, drawing more than 800 viewers from political, academic, media and business circles of China and Russia.
The exhibition, jointly hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the Chinese Embassy in Russia, with support from Zhongchengtong International Investment Co., Ltd, features about 40 selected photographs showcasing the progress of Chinese women's cause and the outcomes of China-Russia exchanges and cooperation in this field.
In a message to the opening ceremony, Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, said that Xinhua, as China's state news agency and a global news organization, has always been a witness, recorder and participant in the development of women's cause, and has actively built bridges between Chinese and Russian media to support exchanges and cooperation in people-to-people and women-related fields.
Taking this exhibition as an opportunity, Xinhua stands ready to tell well the stories of all-round China-Russia cooperation -- especially in fields such as women's development -- and to contribute to the global advancement of women's development, Fu added.
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, and the beginning of the China-Russia Years of Education.
He said both sides will take the exhibition as an opportunity to present a true narrative of all-round China-Russia cooperation, especially in the field of women's development, continue to speak out for safeguarding women's legitimate rights and interests, improving women's social status, and supporting their all-round development, and inject "she power" into advancing global women's cause and the enduring friendship between the two countries.
Galina Kulikova, first deputy chairperson of the Russia-China Friendship Association, said the exhibition, featuring female astronauts, aircraft designers and field workers, left a deep impression on her.
She said China has created favorable conditions for women to grow, adding that women are making significant contributions to the country's rapid development. ■
