YEREVAN, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) will provide an additional 140 million euros (around 162 million U.S. dollars) in financial assistance to Armenia to support reforms related to visa liberalization, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said Thursday.

"These measures will contribute to the reforms necessary to move forward with the visa liberalization process," Kos said at a joint press conference with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan in Yerevan.

Kos noted that the EU's Resilience and Growth Plan has already benefited around 7,000 Armenian enterprises and contributed to the creation of more than 20,000 jobs.

She described Armenia as a "reliable" EU partner in the South Caucasus, highlighting the region's importance amid growing geopolitical tensions.

Armenia is set to host the European Political Community summit in May, followed by the first EU-Armenia summit, which Kos said reflects the deepening ties between the two sides.
