MOSCOW, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia expects the Russia-U.S.-Ukraine negotiations over the Ukraine issue to resume once the United States is able to devote more attention to the matter, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told local media on Thursday.

Peskov said that the work of the Russia-U.S.-Ukraine trilateral working group on security issues is currently suspended.

"This is a temporary pause for understandable reasons," he said when asked how long the trilateral talks might be put on hold.

"Therefore, as soon as the opportunity arises, and the schedules of all three sides are aligned, above all those of our U.S. mediators, once they are able to devote more attention to the Ukraine issue, we hope that this pause will be lifted and that we can resume the next round of trilateral negotiations," Peskov said.
