BUCHAREST, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) said on Wednesday that the country's terrorist alert level will remain at "blue-cautious," signaling no imminent threat of an attack on Romanian territory.
In a press release, the SRI said that ongoing assessments of international security developments, along with data from national and international partners, do not indicate a high probability of terrorism in Romania.
It emphasized that its Anti-Terrorist Brigade continues to act preventively by using specialized methods to counter terrorism, while maintaining constant coordination with domestic and foreign partners to detect and respond to potential threats.
Romania's National Terrorist Alert System has four levels: green (low risk), blue (possible but not imminent threat), yellow (heightened risk requiring vigilance), and red (imminent or ongoing attack with emergency measures).
The announcement comes amid rising tensions in Iran, which have put Europe on high alert.
Romanian President Nicusor Dan said earlier on Wednesday that the country may host U.S. military forces and equipment for at least 90 days if the country's parliament approves a relevant proposal. Last week, drones targeted a British air base in Cyprus were reportedly linked to a U.S.-Israel joint strike on Iran.
Amid the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation has warned of an increased risk of terrorism, violent extremism, cyberattacks, and disinformation campaigns, prompting several European governments to strengthen security measures. ■
