Türkiye's annual inflation rises in February

ANKARA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's annual inflation rose to 31.53 percent in February, up from 30.65 percent in January, according to official data on Tuesday.

Annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, was recorded at 29.46 percent in February.

Meanwhile, the country's month-on-month consumer prices increased by 2.96 percent last month, down from 4.84 percent in January, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

The 12-month average inflation rate was 33.39 percent, down from 53.83 percent in the same period last year.

Among the main expenditure groups with the highest weight in the consumer basket, food and non-alcoholic beverages saw an annual increase of 36.44 percent.

Transportation prices rose by 28.86 percent year-on-year, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded the sharpest increase at 42.33 percent.

Türkiye's economy expanded by 3.6 percent in 2025.
