GDANSK, Poland, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Confucius Institute at the University of Gdansk in northern Poland hosted a Spring Festival gala on Saturday to celebrate the Year of the Horse, drawing hundreds of participants for a celebration of Chinese culture.
The evening featured a vibrant program blending Polish and Chinese artistic elements. University choirs and folk dancers shared the stage with "Chinese Bridge" contest winners, teachers and Chinese students, presenting a variety of performances.
Pawel Antonowicz, vice rector of the University of Gdansk, led a Chen-style Tai Chi demonstration, highlighting the harmony of strength and fluidity in traditional Chinese martial arts.
Having practiced Chinese martial arts for nearly 35 years, Antonowicz has made them an integral part of his life and has long been committed to promoting them in Poland. "It is a pleasure for me to train with Chinese friends and to grow on this beautiful art," he said.
According to Guan Yu, the institute's Chinese director, this year marks the 11th Spring Festival gala organized by the institute, which has become a well-recognized cultural brand in the region.
Established in 2015, the Confucius Institute at the University of Gdansk has taught more than 7,000 students, hosted over 200 cultural events, and organized 26 Chinese proficiency tests. ■
