KIEV, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine is reinforcing its state border with Belarus and strengthening its defense capabilities in the north, State Border Guard Service spokesman Andrii Demchenko said on Thursday.
Demchenko, as quoted by Ukraine's national news agency Ukrinform, said that the more than 1,000 km border with Belarus is being fortified to counter potential threats, describing the northern direction as consistently sensitive since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
He added that no changes or movements of Belarusian troops or equipment have been observed near the border, and the situation remains under constant monitoring.
According to the report released by Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier that Russia and Belarus were once again discussing joint military exercises. ■
