MOSCOW, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- A fire at an office building in northern Moscow has been put out, with 16 people rescued, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Monday.
The blaze broke out on the fourth floor of the building, and the fire was extinguished within an area of 80 square meters, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, local authorities said that preliminary information points to an emergency malfunction of electrical equipment as the cause of the fire.
The authorities added that the final cause of the blaze will be determined based on the results of an on-site investigation.
According to the ministry, the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the fire. ■
