MOSCOW, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nineteen people were injured after drones launched by the Ukrainian forces struck a settlement in Luhansk, with four in serious condition, local leader Leonid Pasechnik said Saturday.

The attack targeted the central settlement during the daytime, Pasechnik said on social media platform Max, noting that dozens of homes, as well as a school building, the local council office and a post office, were damaged in the strike.

Investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee were documenting the consequences of the attack, with emergency services working to deal with the aftermath, he said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces carried out strikes the same day, targeting 154 locations of energy and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military, a central rocket and artillery weapons depot, sites for the storage and launch of long-range drones, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries.

Russian air defense systems also shot down eight rockets from U.S.-made HIMARS rocket systems and 118 fixed-wing drones, the ministry said.
