BERLIN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Departures resumed at Germany's Cologne Bonn Airport on Friday after a brief suspension caused by a security incident.
Around 6:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) in the morning, operations were halted and the security checkpoints were closed after the incident, police said.
An airport spokesman said that departures were disrupted for around two and a half hours. Around 12 flights were affected and delayed, with no cancellations reported.
An initial investigation revealed that a bag undergoing security checks had been handed to its owner despite being flagged for extra screening, police said.
According to police, it was unclear whether a new security process introduced the previous day had contributed to the error. ■
