ISTANBUL, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's central bank forecasts year-end inflation for 2026 at between 15 percent and 21 percent, stressing that it will maintain a tight monetary policy stance to reinforce the disinflation process, Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan said here Thursday.

Karahan made the remarks while presenting the central bank's first inflation report for 2026 at a meeting, adding that the bank's forecast for the end of 2027 indicates inflation will decline to a range of 6 percent to 12 percent.

He said the central bank welcomes early signs that long-standing inflation persistence in some service categories, particularly rents, is beginning to ease, describing the development as a key factor shaping the next stage of the disinflation process.

Recent developments have shown that both domestic and global dynamics continue to pose varying risks to the inflation outlook, depending on evolving conditions, Karahan said, underscoring the importance of "maintaining a cautious, data-driven monetary policy stance."

Karahan added that the central bank stands ready to use all available policy tools decisively in the period ahead to sustain the positive impact of its restrictive policies on inflation.

Türkiye has been grappling with high inflation in recent years, which has weighed on household purchasing power and business costs.
