Russia's foreign trade surplus down 8.17 pct in 2025

MOSCOW, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Russia's foreign trade surplus in 2025 fell by 8.17 percent year on year to 139.3 billion U.S. dollars, Russia's Federal Customs Service said Tuesday.

According to its data, Russia's total foreign trade turnover declined 2.79 percent to 697.3 billion dollars, as both exports and imports decreased from a year earlier.

Exports to European countries dropped by 16.5 percent to 57.4 billion dollars, while exports to Asian countries edged lower by 1 percent to 326 billion dollars, the data showed.

The report also noted that exports to North and South American countries rose by 1.4 percent to 12.1 billion dollars, and imports increased by 10.3 percent to 16.3 billion dollars. Imports from African countries surged by 26.1 percent to 4.4 billion dollars.

Mineral products accounted for the largest share of Russia's exports during the reporting period, totaling 225.3 billion dollars, down 14.8 percent year on year, the report said.

Machinery, equipment and transport vehicles remained the largest category of imports, though the value declined by 7.7 percent to 135.6 billion dollars in 2025, it added.
