PARIS, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- A French teacher was stabbed by a pupil in a school in Sanary-sur-Mer, in southern France, on Tuesday, French Education Minister Edouard Geffray announced on X, adding that he was immediately heading to the school.
According to RTL, citing the Toulon prosecutor's office, the victim, a 60-year-old arts teacher, was seriously injured after being stabbed several times by a 14-year-old pupil during a class at a secondary school.
The suspect was arrested by police, while the teacher, in critical condition, was taken to hospital for treatment, RTL said.
According to French news channel BFMTV, the Var prosecutor said there was no religious or political motive behind the attack. The motive for the stabbing remains unclear. ■
