BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will pay an official visit to China from Wednesday to Saturday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Starmer graduated from the University of Leeds and the University of Oxford, and obtained a Bachelor of Civil Law degree. He qualified as a barrister in 1987 working in private practice. He was appointed Director of Public Prosecutions in 2008, leading the Crown Prosecution Service until 2013. He was elected to the House of Commons in 2015.
Starmer was elected leader of the Labour Party in 2020 and assumed office as prime minister in July 2024. ■
