MINSK, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian Defense Ministry has initiated a large-scale inspection of its armed forces on Monday, the BelTA news agency reported.
The exercise is designed to test the full combat readiness of military units, from the call-up of reservists to the deployment of equipment and execution of combat missions, Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.
A key objective is to assess the troops' ability to counter modern threats, with a special focus on drone warfare and electronic countermeasures, he said. The drills will culminate in comprehensive field exercises.
The defense minister clarified that these drills are separate from another inspection currently being conducted by order of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, though both are running concurrently. ■
