BERLIN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on Friday issued a Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB) recommending that air operators avoid flying over Iranian airspace at all altitudes.

The bulletin stated that, given the ongoing situation and the potential for U.S. military action, Iranian air defense forces have been placed on a "heightened state of alert." Consequently, there is an increased likelihood of misidentification within the "Tehran Flight Information Region."

The agency also advised operators to exercise caution and implement contingency planning for operations in the airspace of neighboring countries, particularly in areas hosting U.S. military bases.

In the event of a U.S. intervention, the agency warned that retaliatory actions against U.S. assets in the region could not be ruled out, potentially creating additional risks to the airspace of neighbouring countries.

EASA said the bulletin is valid until Feb. 16, unless reviewed earlier.
