MINSK, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A comprehensive inspection of the Belarusian armed forces has started, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich said on Friday.
The inspection, ordered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, is being conducted in multiple stages with a focus on operational readiness, Volfovich said.
The inspection is comprehensive and features a surprise element, including assessments of unit security, countermeasures against precision-guided munitions and defenses against unmanned aerial systems, the official said.
The first unit under review is a major technical support unit responsible for the storage and maintenance of a wide range of armored vehicles and military equipment.
Lukashenko is expected to personally participate in the inspection, though neither the date nor the specific location of his visit has been disclosed. ■
