RIGA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Latvian lawmakers on Thursday rejected a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Evika Silina tabled by the National Alliance over Russian-language content in the Baltic country's public service media.
The parliament voted down the motion by 45 votes to 18.
The opposition National Alliance proposed the motion of no confidence in Silina in response to her government's decision to allocate funding to public service media for the production of Russian-language content.
The party argued that the move runs counter to the National Security Concept, which was adopted in 2023.
The motion was the fifth. Opposition parties tabled four no confidence motions in Silina last year, all of which were rejected, with the last vote held in October 2025. ■
