PARIS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- France's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.8 percent year on year in December 2025, down from 0.9 percent in November, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) reported on Thursday.
INSEE said the slight easing in inflation was driven largely by a steeper drop in energy prices, which fell 6.8 percent year on year in December after a 4.6 percent decline in November.
Meanwhile, services inflation eased slightly, with the prices rising 2.1 percent from a year earlier, down from 2.2 percent in November.
Monthly, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent in December after a 0.2 percent decline in November. INSEE attributed the increase mainly to higher service prices, which rose 0.4 percent after a 0.5 percent fall in November, driven by a strong seasonal rebound in transport fares.
Core inflation also went up slightly, standing at 1.1 percent year on year in December, compared with 1.0 percent in November, it said. ■
