BRUSSELS, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said Monday that she has ordered a ban on all diplomatic staff and other representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran from entering any European Parliament premises.
The decision followed protests that broke out across Iran late last month and escalated into nationwide unrest, amid reports of clashes between security forces and protesters.
Over the past two weeks, at least 111 members of Iran's security forces were killed in the unrest, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. Casualty figures for protesters have not been officially released. ■
