THE HAGUE, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two teenagers were shot dead in the Dutch capital Amsterdam around midnight on Thursday, police confirmed on Friday.
According to a post by the Amsterdam police on social media Instagram, officers received a report of a shooting at around 11:45 p.m. local time (2245 GMT) on Thursday. Later, responding units found two victims -- a 16-year-old boy from Delft and an 18-year-old from Amsterdam -- both with apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers administered first aid and attempted resuscitation until a mobile medical team and ambulance personnel arrived to take over. Despite their efforts, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the post.
The suspect or suspects fled the area following the shooting, it said.
An investigation unit, along with a forensic examination team, has launched a probe into the incident. ■
