BAKU, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili on Monday welcomed a recently reached agreement on tariffs for the transit of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia via Georgia, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
During a telephone conversation, Bayramov expressed his gratitude to the Georgian leadership for their prompt resolution of the tariff issue, which facilitates the export of oil products through Georgian territory to Armenia. Both ministers emphasized the importance of continuing coordinated efforts in this direction to ensure smooth operations.
Beyond the oil agreement, they also discussed the current state and prospects of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the talks, the two foreign ministers hailed the current trajectory of bilateral relations, noting that high-level political dialogue and intensive mutual visits have provided significant impetus to the strengthening of ties. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining this momentum and expanding political contacts in 2026.
The first shipment of Azerbaijani petroleum products via Georgia was dispatched to Armenia on Dec. 18. ■
