BELGRADE, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- An international advanced training course in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) opened here on Saturday, marking the first time the program has been held in Serbia

Co-organized by the Institute of Basic Research in Clinical Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, the Serbian Association for Integrative Medicine, and the China Cultural Center in Belgrade, the event gathered nearly 200 doctors, professors and researchers from Serbia, Slovakia, Poland and other countries.

Under the theme "Intelligent Integration: Integrative Medicine Leading a Healthy Future," participants will engage in exchanges through expert lectures, practical workshops and other formats.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint said Serbia and China have maintained long-standing friendly relations, which continue to deepen. He noted that Serbia plans to establish a national center for integrative medicine at the University of Belgrade in 2026, and is exploring with the Chinese side the establishment of joint laboratories to advance modern research in personalized herbal medicine, bioengineering and artificial intelligence.

Liu Yinghui, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, said Serbia has a sound foundation in TCM research and clinical practice, and this program provides an important platform for both sides to further deepen scientific cooperation in TCM.

Zhang Aimin, director of the China Cultural Center in Belgrade, said the training program reflects deepening cooperation and joint development in the health sector between China and Serbia.

Since its launch in 2017, the program has held five previous sessions, training more than 80 medical professionals from 18 countries.
