SOFIA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria's opposition on Friday filed a sixth no-confidence motion against the 11-month-old coalition government led by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov, accusing it of failures in economic policy.

As many as 61 lawmakers from the groups We Continue the Change -- Democratic Bulgaria, Alliance for Rights and Freedoms and MECH submitted the motion.

Under parliamentary rules, the motion must be debated within seven days and put to a vote at least 24 hours after the debate ends. To pass, it requires the support of more than half of the 240 legislators.

Jeliazkov's administration took office on Jan. 16, 2025, following snap elections in October 2024, the country's seventh parliamentary election in three and a half years.

The latest motion follows five previous no-confidence attempts earlier this year, which targeted the government's policies on foreign affairs, corruption, fiscal management, environment and water sector, and internal security and justice. All were rejected by parliament.

Bulgaria's constitution allows a no-confidence vote to be initiated by at least one-fifth of lawmakers, but it bars a second motion on the same grounds within six months.
