LONDON, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- About 200 homes were evacuated in Derby, a city in central England, on Thursday as two men were arrested on suspicion of explosives offenses, police said.
Earlier, the police asked the residents in the affected area to prepare to be out of their homes for 24 hours as a major incident was declared.
The two men arrested, one aged in his 40s and the other in his 50s, remain in police custody, according to the police.
The incident is "not being treated as terrorism," and there is no wider risk to the community, police said. ■
