MOSCOW, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Bank of Russia will lift existing restrictions on overseas foreign currency transfers for Russian citizens and non-resident individuals from friendly countries starting Dec. 8, the central bank announced on Friday.
In a statement published on its website, the bank said the decision was made "in view of the stable situation in the foreign exchange market," allowing the regulator to remove the previously imposed limits on foreign-currency transfers abroad.
Currently, individuals are allowed to send no more than 10,000 U.S. dollars per month, or the equivalent in another foreign currency, through money transfer systems.
The central bank introduced the limits in March 2022 as part of temporary capital control measures aimed at stabilizing financial markets. ■
