ISTANBUL, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police have seized more than 2.3 million illicit pills in a record drug bust in the western province of Izmir, local authorities said Monday.
Acting on intelligence, anti-narcotics units raided two locations in the Karabaglar district, where large quantities of pills were stored for distribution, said the provincial police department.
Police confiscated 2.31 million pills along with machinery and materials used for synthetic drug production, and detained one suspect, said the department.
The seizure marks the largest of its kind ever recorded in Izmir, it added. ■
