MOSCOW, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Russia-China Education Festival, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in education, science and culture, launched here on Thursday.

Hosted by Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the opening ceremony drew representatives from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Chinese Embassy in Russia, and several universities of both countries.

Lasting three days, the event brings together participants to discuss topics such as expanding China-Russia cooperation and advancing digital transformation in science and education. Several roundtable meetings focusing on collaboration and language promotion among universities of the two countries have been arranged.

Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov said the festival reflects the strength and depth of bilateral relations. With the next two years designated as the Russia-China Years of Education, the festival marks a vibrant beginning to the program, he added.

Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said during the opening ceremony that educational cooperation is an important part of bilateral ties and has yielded fruitful results thanks to joint efforts of the two countries.

The festival also features workshops on traditional crafts such as calligraphy, tea art, embroidery and decorative painting, along with an exhibition showing contributions of Chinese scholars to the regional development in Russia.
