ZAGREB, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Croatian government has decided to add 30 products to the list of capped price items, bringing the total number to 100, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced at a government session on Thursday.

"In this way, we want to help those who are most vulnerable, to ease the prices of the consumer basket, and to act against inflationary pressures," Plenkovic said.

Under the new decree, retailers are required to offer at least one listed product with clear markings. Stores larger than 400 square meters must continue to provide separate areas for products with limited prices.

Meanwhile, Croatian Economy Minister Ante Susnjar said that retailers are encouraged to offer lower prices than the limited prices when market conditions permit. The government will continue to monitor market developments and the implementation of the decision, and adjust the measures if necessary.

The 30 new products, among the total of 100 items, are mainly food, vegetables, fruits, and hygiene products for daily life.

With a yearly inflation rate of 3.6 percent in October, Croatia's consumer prices have been among the highest in the Eurozone.
