PORTOROZ, Slovenia, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Vice President of the National Assembly of Slovenia Meira Hot on Friday called for closer cooperation between Slovenian and Chinese media to enhance mutual understanding and promote objective reporting.
During a meeting in Portoroz with Huo Xiaoguang, vice president of Xinhua News Agency, Hot said that the media serves as a vital bridge between nations, helping share true and balanced information and to build mutual trust.
Huo, for his part, said Xinhua is ready to deepen exchanges with Slovenian partners and work together to uphold fairness, objectivity and accuracy in reporting.
Amid the rise of social and digital platforms, professional journalism remains essential for public trust, Hot said. "Through stronger collaboration between our media, we can tell our stories more accurately, foster dialogue and contribute to friendship between our peoples."
The two sides also exchanged views on the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hot stressed that the initiative has brought tangible benefits to participating countries by improving infrastructure and connectivity and that Slovenia should make better use of the platform to advance cooperation and exchanges.
Hot said the Chinese market offers vast opportunities for Slovenian products, and stronger trade and communication will further strengthen Slovenia-China friendship and cooperation. ■
