WARSAW, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Poland and Italy have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on military cooperation, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said Friday.

According to a statement from the Polish Defence Ministry, the MoU will cover joint military exercises, defence industry cooperation and arms procurement. Kosiniak-Kamysz announced the plan after meeting Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in Rome.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said the two sides also discussed the European Union's SAFE program, which provides up to 150 billion euros (174 billion U.S. dollars) in financial support for member states to purchase security and defence equipment. Poland and Italy are among the main beneficiaries of the scheme.
