BiH ends Danube Region chairmanship, Bulgaria takes over leadership

SARAJEVO, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has concluded its one-year chairmanship of the European Union (EU) Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), handing over the role to Bulgaria at the 14th EUSDR Annual Forum held in Sarajevo on Wednesday.

BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic said all planned goals had been achieved with a focus on economic development and reducing youth emigration.

Bulgaria's Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov pledged to continue BiH's efforts, stressing the importance of reducing regional disparities and strengthening solidarity across the Danube region.

Luigi Soreca, head of the EU Delegation to BiH, reaffirmed the EU's support for BiH's path toward full membership.

The forum concluded with the adoption of the Sarajevo-Danube Declaration.
