LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The SportAccord Executive Committee announced Thursday the appointment of Kelly Fairweather as its new managing director, after this week's International Federations Forum.
The 2025 IF Forum brought together more than 500 sports leaders, academics, thought leaders and partners to the Olympic Museum here to discussion around the "New Global Reality in Sport: IFs in a world that refuses to stand still" from October 27 to 29.
President Ugur Erdener said: "SportAccord is delighted to have appointed Kelly Fairweather as Managing Director. Kelly brings decades of experience in working with our key stakeholders - the International Federations that are responsible for deciding the directions of their sports."
A former CEO of the International Tennis Federation, Fairweather has had a 40-year career in the sport industry. He was the former sports director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and CEO of International Hockey Federation before joining in the ITF in 2017.
Fairweather said: "Throughout my career, whether at the IOC or leading IFs, there has been one constant: the SportAccord Convention and IF Forums have remained great places to learn with and from colleagues, to share our stories of best practice and chart a course for the future." ■
